With reference to the correspondence ending with

your letter, No.24892, of the 12th August, I am

directed by the Secretary of State for India in

Council to forward for the information of Mr. Secretary

Harcourt a copy of a telegram from the Government of

India on the subject of the legislation contemplated by

the Government of Hongkong respecting the importation

into that Colony of Opium intended for Formose, and te

request that the Marquess of Crewe may be informed

whether the proposed measure has been passed by the

Hongkong Legislative Council and if so what are its

terms.
